Lucca

One of our side trips from Pisa was a visit to the hill town of Lucca. Another idyllic town, but what sets it apart is the immense city walls surrounding the city which date back to the Middle Ages. The walls are wide enough to drive a car around! Of course, there are no cars, only bicyclists and pedestrians. These jagged walls that encircle Lucca have a pretty famous architect too, the one and only Leonardo Da Vinci. Walking the wall was a great way to look out across a city’s rooftops and see a place from a different perspective. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucca
